RSS Feed Confession

A few folks participating the 27 Things project have mentioned using Google Reader rather than Bloglines. It is so much easier than setting up another RSS reader--especially since it transfers all of the Blogger blogs I'm following automatically. This is a real boon, because I'm following a lot of blogs these days--and finding out all manner of interesting things about my co-workers. (Who knew there were so many birders in our midst?)

But here is the real confession--the first non-Blogger RSS feed I subscribed to wasn't gizmodo (which I adore) or SPL or even CNN. It was the Swine Flu Updates from the CDC. Yeah, I'm looking hard at all the sneezers and wheezers, aka patrons, coming through our doors, and doing a lot of handwashing. I've always been a big fan this "natural" hand-sanitizer--CleanWell--but now I'm considering bulk ordering for the duration.

I try not to think about the keyboards.

  1. Check out The Great Influenza by John Barry. Fascinating but creepy stuff about the flu pandemic of 1917.

  2. And don't read The Stand by Stephen King if you're already nervous. But it is a really good book. But a terrible made-for-TV movie. So bad I actually like it in a weird way.
